This morning I finally finished Fallout 3. I don’t think I can rate the game high enough but if I were on a scale of 1 to 10 it is a 10. The ending was a little lackluster but the game itself was a joy to play.
I don’t often run across many games that really shine like Fallout 3. The care Bethesda took to make this game awesome really shows.
I am not going to fan much about the VATS system or that its a RPG shooter. I am also not going to talk much about the story because I don’t want to ruin any of that for anyone that hasn’t played it.
What I will say is that the game has a really interesting story. The story took a few turns I didn’t really appreciate but understand why they took them. Just when I thought the game couldn’t get much more interesting, it did.
The game wasn’t too difficult but did die a few times. I put quite a bit of skill points into small arms so my rifles and shotguns were pretty powerful. Speaking of. I am not sure how you can play this game if you don’t sink a fair amount of points into repair skills. Unless you want broken weapons all the time. I felt the repair skill to be essential, but if someone made the game happen with a low repair skill id love to hear how.
In RPGs I love to hoard money, by the games end I had something like 5k caps. Unsure what I save the money up for, but I found that you could find everything you need lying around or on dead enemies.
I think one test of a true classic is if you can go back and play it over again. I believe in this instance Fallout 3 is a game I could play again. I really went and dug myself into playing the game as a good character. I would like to go through the game and see how it fairs if I play evil. This game has some really evil things you can do, wonder if I could bring myself to do some of them.
I played it on PS3 and it was the Game of The Year edition if anyone is wondering. I might play it through on PC or something. Time will tell there though.
If you play games and like RPGs or shooters, I highly recommend Fallout 3. Its a great game. And the music is good too if you ever make it to turning on Galaxy News Radio.
